October 8, 2026
Since June, a bouldering gym, a simulator bar, a deli and an ice cream shop have opened in Broad Ripple, and a butcher shop is aiming to open by the end of October. None of them is on Broad Ripple Avenue. In the same stretch, the Avenue lost two long-running places, and its biggest announced arrival isn't expected until early 2027.
So the new parts of the neighborhood this fall sit on Winthrop Avenue near the Monon, on Westfield Boulevard, on Cornell Avenue and on College. The Avenue is between tenants, and the side streets filled in first.
Here is the list as of September 30, 2026, sorted by where each place sits and what it is doing right now.
| Business | Address | Status as of Sept. 30, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| Eve's Garden Deli | 916 E. Westfield Blvd., Suite 120 | Opened June 2026 |
| Stick & Hack Entertainment | 4560 Ocean St., Suite 100, near 46th and Winthrop | Open |
| Ripple Boulder | 5255 Winthrop Ave. | Open by Aug. 18 |
| Vintage Spoon Ice Cream Social | 6528 Cornell Ave. | Open by Sept. 23 |
| Moody's Butcher Shop | 6434 N. College Ave., Suite C | Aiming for the last weekend of October |
| Red Dragon Modern Hibachi Grains | 801 Broad Ripple Ave. | Listed for Oct. 2 |
| Hamilton Walker's | College and Broad Ripple Avenue corner, Marko on the Canal | Targeting early 2027 |
The top five rows are open or nearly open, and every one is off the Avenue. The two Avenue-side entries are the ones still on the way. One has had its date move once already. The other is more than a season out.
The densest new cluster is along Winthrop Avenue, right next to the Monon Trail.
Ripple Boulder bills itself as a neighborhood bouldering gym at 5255 Winthrop Ave., just off the Monon. Bouldering uses shorter walls and padded landings, so there are no ropes or harnesses, and the gym's beginner guide walks first-timers through it. In April, Climbing Business Journal named the owners as Collin Jester, Madeline McKinnon and Caleb Johnson. It also listed the setup: 2,400 square feet of wall, a floating boulder, a Tension Board 2, a campus board and hangboards. INDYtoday reported the gym open by August 18. The homepage still says "Hours coming soon," but it sells memberships and day passes and offers optional 24/7 member access. Check with the gym before planning around a set schedule.
Head south toward 46th Street and you reach Stick & Hack Entertainment at 4560 Ocean St. This is the company's second location. It has golf simulators, four racing simulators, electronic darts, a full bar and an outdoor patio. Half Liter BBQ supplies the food under an exclusive deal, along with Nino's pizza and light bites. "We wanted to build something that fits Broad Ripple and adds to it," founder and partner Adam Grubb said when the venue was announced in March. Its posted hours run Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from noon to midnight and Sunday from noon to 9 p.m. It's closed Mondays. It also books group events and runs league play.
Both businesses place themselves by the Monon, not by the Avenue. Stick & Hack's announcement calls its corner "just off the Monon corridor." Taken together, they turn the stretch of Winthrop by the trail into a place to go, not just a way through.
The second cluster includes a deli, a butcher and an ice cream shop: food you pick up on an ordinary weekday or weekend afternoon.
Eve's Garden Deli opened in June at 916 E. Westfield Blvd. Owner Myka Gurvitz runs it, and WTHR called it Indiana's first Black-owned deli. The menu includes Crislyns' corned beef, Lamar's Sweet Chicken and a Gurvitz Supreme sandwich. It also serves breakfast sandwiches all day, loaded baked potatoes, smoothies and individual pizzas. According to the deli's contact page, it's open Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It's closed Monday and Tuesday, and the deli says hours may change.
Vintage Spoon Ice Cream Social is now on Cornell Avenue at number 6528. In August, Current reported that the brand's existing Geist shop was being renamed and expanded under owner Chris Collins, with Broad Ripple expected to open in mid-August. INDYtoday confirmed the Cornell shop was open by September 23. The brand advertises 28 rotating flavors, vegan and dairy-free options, shaved ice, coffee, sundaes and cookie sandwiches. No Broad Ripple hours are posted yet.
Moody's Butcher Shop is the one still in transition. Its Nora shop on 86th Street is closing and moving to a larger storefront at 6434 N. College Ave., Suite C. Moody's says it is "aiming for the last weekend of October," with opening weekend details to come. On September 28, the Indianapolis Business Journal reported that the new shop will offer hot-food takeout, a first for the four-store chain. Treat the late-October date as the shop's own goal until it posts the details.
The Avenue's year has mostly been about departures. Condado Tacos closed its original Indianapolis-area restaurant at 838 Broad Ripple Ave. on July 5, after nearly eight years. Brick House Dueling Pianos held its final night on August 23 after 12 years. Entertainment director Brittany Brumfield told WTHR the reasons were rising rent and fewer customers. Brumfield said she hopes Broad Ripple can be the live music hub it once was. In the same story, the group Love, Broad Ripple pointed to new businesses on the way and continued enthusiasm for doing business in the village.
The Avenue's arrivals are still to come. Red Dragon Modern Hibachi Grains is moving into the former 'Za space at 801 Broad Ripple Ave., with a menu built around fried rice and noodles. In mid-August, Indianapolis Monthly reported an August 31 target. Do317's September-updated list now shows October 2. That date is two days away, but it has already moved once, so check before going.
The larger anchor is further out. Hamilton Walker's steakhouse is taking the former HopCat space at the base of the Broad Ripple parking garage, inside Marko on the Canal at the corner of College and Broad Ripple Avenue. WTHR describes an 8,000-square-foot restaurant targeting early 2027. IBJ confirmed the steakhouse tenant in July but gave no updated date, so early 2027 is a forecast for now.
So the Avenue's next chapter is on the calendar, just later than the side streets. Until then, the newest places in Broad Ripple are a few blocks from the strip.
October is when the new map and the old routines overlap. Here is how a Saturday could run using only posted hours and dates:
From October 31 on, if Moody's opening on College lands as planned, a stop for meat and hot takeout fits into that same loop.
The calendar shifts again after that. In November the farmers market moves indoors to Broad Ripple Middle School at 1115 Broad Ripple Ave. and stays there through April. That puts the Saturday market back on the Avenue for the winter. Broad Ripple Lights Up is Sunday, December 6, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. The free festival runs from 3 to 5:15, the parade starts at 5:30, and the tree lighting is at 6, according to the Broad Ripple Village Association.
Keeping track of what opened where is part of how Carly DeFazio follows Broad Ripple from one season to the next. If you'd like to compare notes on the Winthrop corridor, what Hamilton Walker's could mean for the College corner, or anything else changing near you, let's connect.
